From Stage Lights to Brain Fog: My Journey from Bodybuilding to Advocacy

In 2007, while juggling nursing school and long clinical hours, I found an unexpected escape—bodybuilding. What started as a way to manage stress quickly grew into a passion. Over the next 14 years, I stepped onto figure competition stages, earned certifications as a personal trainer and sports nutrition specialist, and immersed myself in the world of fitness. To most, it looked like I was thriving. But behind the muscle and discipline, something else was brewing.

By 2021, my body—which I had trained and cared for so meticulously—began betraying me. It started subtly: muscle weakness, random spasms, persistent pain, and a fog that dulled my once-sharp thoughts. Over time, the fatigue became overwhelming. Every day felt like I was dragging myself through quicksand, yet despite years of medical visits and tests, I was offered no answers—just worsening symptoms.

Then, in 2023, everything changed.

I stumbled upon emerging research on vitamin D and decided to test my levels. The result? A glaring deficiency. It was a moment of clarity—not just about my health but a critical gap in our healthcare system. I couldn't help but ask: Why hadn’t my primary care provider tested for this? Why is vitamin D deficiency so under-recognized? And how many others are silently suffering like I was?

This experience became a turning point. Today, I’m driven by a passion for fitness and a mission to raise awareness regarding manageable ways to stay healthy. I’m dedicated to helping everyday people access the knowledge, tools, and preventative care they need to live healthier lives. Because no one should have to suffer from something so preventable
